Affordable Healthcare for Uninsured Working Adults
We envision Bethesda Health Clinic as embodying Christ in action by bringing healing and hope to the people we serve. Now Providing Children’s Services at Bethesda Pediatrics
We’ve been providing healthcare services in East Texas since 2003
Bethesda Health Clinic serves hardworking low-income adults who have no insurance or who are underinsured (those who have deductibles that are high relative to their income).
Since its inception, the clinic has served more than 20,000 patients and completed more than 265,000 patient visits.

Be inspired! Bethesda patients share their renewed hope.
How We Helped in 2023
Before Bethesda, those in need had to go to a local hospital’s emergency room for medical care. Our state-of-the-art facility eases the burden on local ER’s while serving a neglected segment of our population in a professional and dignified environment.

Patient Stories
Here’s where the rubber meets the road. We can talk all day about how much work was done, how many volunteers helped, and how many donations were given. But none of these matter unless our patients’ lives are improved. Our patients’ stories are the measure of our efforts together, and they prove that all of it matters!
Betty's Story
Betty was suffering from seizures and paying a high price for primary care and neurology until a current patient told her about Bethesda. One of our primary care physicians and volunteer neurologists got her seizures under control and provided her with essential medication for a much lower cost. After the discovery that her seizures were stress related, Betty started meeting with our counselors to learn to avoid and deal with stress.
“If I didn’t have Bethesda I would suffer.”
Paul's Story
After serving overseas in the U.S. Navy, Paul struggled with post-traumatic stress disorder and addiction. Like many veterans, Paul struggled to maintain his mental and physical health. Eventually his teeth became so deteriorated from poor diet and neglect that the pain was unbearable. Through Camp V, Paul found Bethesda and got the help he needed. Now Paul attends TJC with the goal of becoming an addiction counselor.
“I have been through the darkest days of my life, but now I have hope from places like Bethesda and Camp V.”
Angela's Story
Angela is self-employed and was forced to sell her house in order to pay for treatment of her chronic condition. Then Angela found Bethesda, and now has control of her condition and avoids the emergency room, and the pricey bills. She is able to get the consistent care and medication she needs so she can spend valuable time with her grandchildren.
“I really appreciate everybody (at the clinic) for what they do, the doctors and everyone working there.”
A Few of Our Volunteers
Here are just a few of our volunteers who made the choice to support Bethesda Health Clinic with their time.
Meet Ann
Ann Boland began volunteering in admissions in the summer of 2021. Not only does she meet with potential patients to determine if they qualify for our services, but offers prayer to ease their suffering. Ann says it’s a real blessing to work with people and touch them through prayer and gospel.
“I see this as my ministry that I can use to glorify God.”
Meet Gina
Gina Butler is a member of the Bethesda Alliance and has been volunteering at the clinic since 2012. Gina’s creativity and passion for Bethesda contributes to huge success at the clinic’s biggest annual fundraiser, the Birthday Bash.
“I believe that the Lord is in this clinic because of the way people have responded. The people of our community have given above and beyond what we ever imagined and I believe it’s because God is using this clinic and I love being a part of it. When Jesus ministered to people he always met their physical needs first and THEN he talked to them about their spiritual needs. That’s why the clinic is so successful. God is at the center and I appreciate Dr. English for making that happen.”
Meet Gerry
Gerry Brown is a volunteer physician assistant who specializes in diabetes care and other chronic illnesses. Diabetes is very prevalent among Bethesda’s patients, and many of them did not receive adequate treatment prior to coming to the clinic. Gerry not only treats symptoms of diabetes and other comorbidities, but encourages patients to make lifestyle changes that are necessary to controlling the disease.
“I enjoy volunteering, giving a little bit back to the community, and helping to take care of folks in need that don’t have good access to healthcare.”

Bethesda Health Clinic stands firmly against racism, ethnic discrimination and any other forms of oppression. We serve our community with open arms and welcome people of all backgrounds to find hope and healing at the clinic. We work to empower all of our patients, especially those who have been marginalized in the past, and hope that the care at the clinic is a direct reflection of the love of Jesus Christ.
